Yesterday's trip to Seafield Park in Grantown-on-Spey saw manager Paul Lawson take charge of United for the 150th time writes Ian Rennie.
It’s now just over 4 years since Paul took charge of the club, which makes him Formartine United's longest serving manager since Dave Cormie. In that time he has delivered the Aberdeenshire Cup and the Highland League Cup in 2017/18 and the Aberdeenshire Shield in 2018/19 as well as appearances in four other Cup Finals.
His 150 games to date have seen United win 103 games, with 11 draws and 36 defeats or just under a seventy percent win rate (68.67% to be precise). As well as seven cup final outings, Paul’s tenure has also seen memorable cup trips to the likes of Coleraine, Dumfries, Coatbridge, Livingston, Gala, Haddington as well as our most recent trip to Cumnock.
Goals have also been in plentiful supply under Paul with 409 efforts finding the back of our opponents net, with 173 goals conceded. Not surprisingly Graeme Rodger tops the scorers chart under Lawson with 56 goals.
After a difficult few weeks for the club here’s hoping that yesterday's result sees the team begin a winning run both in the League and Scottish Cup as well as the Highland League Cup and Aberdeenshire Shield which are both due to commence next month.
