Formartine’s Under 18’s continued their one hundred percent league campaign with a 3-1 victory over one of their closest rivals in the League, Dyce. A Mitchel Watson leveller after half an hour and a double from Branden Beaton secured the win in a closely contested match. Dyce started the brighter and opened the scoring after quarter an hour after Dyce attacker Ritchie Massie was played in on the edge of the box, controlled the ball, and slotted the ball below Grant Corbett from 12 yards.
Formartine equalised after 28 minutes after Mitchel Watson was played through by an Arran Paterson defence splitting pass. The right winger outpaced his marker and as he entered the box rifled a powerful low shot into the far corner of the net after the merest of touches from the visiting keeper. In the next attack a minute later a long Formartine clearance wide left allowed Brody Alberts to out muscle his marker and create enough space to deliver a pin point cross for the incoming Branden Beaton to meet the ball with a perfectly placed right foot volley into the corner of the net.
Formartine extended their lead on the hour mark after a Formartine free kick resulted in a series of head tennis before Branden Beaton won the ball, found a yard of space 25 yards out and curled a perfect effort into the net over the Dyce keeper’s outstretched arm and off the underside of the bar. The visitors applied pressure over the closing minutes without giving Formartine keeper Corbett any real issues.
