Long serving defender Stuart Smith has made over 250 appearances for Formartine United and has seen it all before "i am really looking forward to the cup final, it’s a huge game and we’ve done all right in finals recently with a bit of luck that will continue. Cove look like they will win the league but hopefully we can beat them again and retain the Highland League Cup instead".
Stuart thought we lacked a little creativity in our game last Saturday against Lossiemouth "credit to Lossiemouth who made it difficult for us, they defended well and they got men behind the ball. We expect that here as it’s going to happen, they defended really well and i think we lacked a wee bit of creativity and maybe played forward earlier at times to try and turn them but it’s easy saying all that now. We won the game in the end and it’s another clean sheet for Mainser and the defence. It was a bit of a scrappy game not the best if i am honest. I just didn’t think we really got going".
This season the pitch has been in excellent condition but Stuart felt it had an effect on play "i felt the pitch didn’t help as it was a wee bit fiery, sometimes you can’t really put your finger on it. I think we were trying to put on a good show, with one eye on the cup final, but unfortunately didn’t do that.
